• Central Oregon teams take home tournament titles: Two teams from the Bend-based Oregon Rush youth soccer organization won championships at the Mt. Hood Challenge, a youth soccer tournament held in the Portland area this past Friday through Sunday. A total of nearly 500 teams in U9 through U18 age groups participated in the tournament.
In the girls U14 platinum division, Oregon Rush 97 Girls Nike overcame a loss in bracket play to win its championship. The squad allowed only two goals in five games and defeated Spokane Elite G97 Faridnia 1-0 in a penalty-kick shootout in the final.
The Rush’s other winning team, 96 Boys Nike, outscored its four opponents by a 22-3 margin, including a 6-1 win against WAFC Fires B96 in the final.
Two additional Oregon Rush squads, 98 Girls Nike and 97 Boys Nike, advanced to their respective finals.
