Gladys Dahlgren, 96, of Madras, passed away on Friday, September 9, 2011.

Gladys was born August 1, 1915, in Doland, South Dakota, to her parents, Clarence and Signa Spear. She graduated high school in 1934, and shortly thereafter moved to Bend to work for Dr. Clyde J. Rademacher and his family.

In 1936, Gladys married Arthur Dahlgren in Vancouver, WA, and spent the next 70 years in Bend, OR, raising and caring for three generations of her family. She also helped other Central Oregon families in need. Her greatest passion was to care for others while putting her needs second.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Darrell and Regina Dahlgren of Madras; sisters, Helen Butcher of Bend and Eva Vance of Las Vegas, NV; two grandsons, Drew and Dustin; and one great-granddaughter, Allison.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur of 56 years in 1991; siblings, Glen Spear, Vernon Spear, Dwayne Spear, and Alice Lenling.

A graveside memorial service will be held at Deschutes Memorial Gardens, 63875 N. Highway 97, Bend, at 1:00 p.m., on Friday, September 23, 2011. Please sign our guest book at www.niswonger-reynolds.com
