High Desert Chamber Music has selected its music students for this year’s Spotlight Chamber Players program: Mateo Garza (violin), Hannah Ortman (violin), Ben Kroeker (viola) and Jonah Rosberg (cello) will participate in the program, which provides a high level of chamber music instruction to aspiring young musicians.
The annual auditions are open to violin, viola, cello and bass students in grades 6-12 who have three or more years of private study and intermediate to advanced levels of playing. Winners receive weekly chamber music instruction from HDCM’s executive director, Isabelle Senger, as well as select visiting artists; admission to all HDCM performances and events; and opportunities to perform at HDCM and Spotlight Series events.
High Desert Chamber Music, now in its fourth season, brings world-class chamber music and musicians to Central Oregon, and seeks to heighten awareness, appreciation and understanding of the classical music genre. To that end, Pastini Pastaria, 375 S.W. Powerhouse Drive in Bend’s Old Mill District, will host a “Pasta-thon” benefitting HDCM’s Educational Outreach programs, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday. Participating diners just need to mention High Desert Chamber Music to their server, and 50 percent of net proceeds will benefit HDCM, takeout orders included.
