• Area academy named grant recipient: The North Face has awarded the Bend Endurance Academy a $2,500 grant to help children and families explore the outdoors.

The academy runs developmental programs in cross-country skiing, cycling, rock climbing and multisport, and it serves, according to a BEA press release, more than 300 Central Oregon families. The press release stated the grant will be used to support the academy’s Community Trails Project, which includes six days of community activities focused on ski and bike trail maintenance, and the offering of free learn-to-bike and -ski clinics.
