LAKE STEVENS, Wash. — Jesus Retano won by fall in the final match of the night at 152 pounds, putting Culver over the top for a 39-34 victory over Orting, Wash., in a high school wrestling showcase event Wednesday at Lake Stevens High School.

The Bulldogs, who led for most of the dual meet, trailed 34-33 going into the last match. Retano, a senior, pinned Orting’s Dylan Thomas at the 1:48 mark to give Culver the team win.

Also winning by fall for the Bulldogs were Cody Clugston (160 pounds), Miguel Gutierrez (170) and Ivan Galan (182). Winners by decision for Culver included Kyle Bender, who scored a 9-4 overtime victory over Tyler Blankenship at 132 pounds.

Next up for Culver is a tournament in Pendleton next Thursday.
