• Local climber set for national championships: Bend climber Lukas Strauss-Wise, 12, is set to compete at the American Bouldering Series (ABS) Youth National Championships, to be held March 2-4 in Colorado Springs, Colo.

The ABS Nationals appearance will be the third straight for Strauss-Wise, who finished third at nationals last year.

Strauss-Wise, a member of the Bend Endurance Academy climbing team, finished first in his age category at the ABS Division 1 qualification event held last month in Seattle.

The ABS Nationals event includes the top 30 climbers in each age category from across the country.
