• Bend snowboarder sweeps Free Flow Tour finals: Bend’s Kent Callister, 16, won championships in both the slopestyle and the superpipe competition at the Gatorade Free Flow Tour finals this past weekend in Ogden, Utah.

He is the first competitor to claim two championships in a single Gatorade Free Flow Tour season.

Callister was one of three riders to successfully land a 1080 (three rotations) in the superpipe contest on Sunday. He also attempted a “Double McTwist” in the middle of his second run. His best-run score of 94.25 beat out second-place rider Chase Josey (92.50).

In Saturday’s slopestyle, Callister scored an 80.50 to edge out runner-up Mark Reininga (79.50).

With the wins, Callister qualified for next season’s Winter Dew Tour, one of the most competitive freestyle skiing and snowboarding tours in the country.
