• Wiggins still leads Paris-Nice: Lieuwe Westra attacked late in the final climb of the day to win the fifth stage of the Paris-Nice race on Thursday in France, while Bradley Wiggins extended his overall lead to 10 seconds over his main rival Levi Leipheimer. Westra moved into second place, six seconds behind Wiggins, but is also not a major threat to the leader.
• Cavendish wins sprint in Italy: World champion Mark Cavendish won the second stage of the weeklong Tirreno-Adriatico race in a sprint finish Thursday in Italy, while Australian Matthew Goss retained the overall lead. Three-time world champion Oscar Freire of Spain crossed second and American sprinter Tyler Farrar was third, both with the same time as Cavendish. Bend’s Chris Horner was 39th in the same time and is eighth in the overall standings.
