June 10, 1929 – March 17, 2012

Wayne, was born June 10, 1929, in Mitchell, OR, to Carl and Amanda Helms. Wayne passed away on Saturday, March 17, in Bend, OR. He graduated from Glide High School in 1947. He proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict , from February 1952 to February 1955. He was in the US Marine Corps, 1st Battalion, 1st Marine, 1st Division and upon his discharge, had attained the rank of Corporal.

On April 21,1956, he married Sylvia Diane McKibben and they had five children. He worked as a millwright in the lumber industry which included Boise-Cascade and Gilchrist Timber Company and retired after 35 years. He loved hunting, fishing and keeping up with his children and grandchildren on ”Facebook”.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sylvia, an infant son, a daughter, Jeannie Crayton; granddaughter, Lindsay Mae Tracey, and sister, Crystal Helms Cooley.

Surviving are his wife, Norma Jean of 28 years; daughters, Janine Tracey, Brenda (Jerry) Keener, Paula (Joe) Darcy, and son-in-law Warren Crayton; step-daughter Elauna (Charles) Smith; eight grandchildren, Shannon Tracey, Kevin Keener, Lisa Keener Thompson, Ryann Darcy Fuentes, Randi Darcy, Jessica Crayton Cram, Shayla Crayton and Devin Crayton.
