PORTLAND — Portland police say a woman was struck and killed in an apparent hit and run.

The state medical examiner is performing an autopsy and attempting to determine the woman’s identity.

Police say officers assigned to Central Precinct took a report at 11:20 p.m. Saturday that someone was lying on West Burnside Street near Southwest Tichner Drive.

Officers found the dead woman in the street.
