WOU professor killed by truck

CORVALLIS — A professor of special education at Western Oregon University has died of injuries suffered when he was struck by a pickup while riding his bike.

The Corvallis Gazette-Times reports 61-year-old Hank Alexander Bersani Jr. of Monmouth died Saturday.

Bersani was riding at about 11:20 a.m. near Highway 99W north of Monmouth.

Oregon State Police Lt. Greg Hastings says Bersani was struck as he crossed the highway.

State police say the pickup driven by 68-year-old Marvin H. Ford of Monmouth veered left but struck the bicyclist.
