Timothy Luke Coffia, 35, pleaded no contest to two charges of second-degree animal neglect in Crook County District Court on Tuesday.

Coffia’s plea came as part of an agreement that dismissed 18 other charges of second-degree animal neglect.

Coffia was charged with the crimes after a January police raid of a Powell Butte ranch where Coffia worked as a caretaker. Several malnourished and emaciated horses were found in Coffia’s care.

The court sentenced Coffia to 30 days in jail and three years’ probation.
