Four errors with two outs in the top of the ninth inning doomed the Bend Elks’ split squad West Coast League baseball team, as a 2-1 lead turned into a 5-2 nonleague loss to the Redding Colt .45’s in front of 1,193 spectators on Sunday night at Vince Genna Stadium.

Bend’s Dillon Keene went seven innings on the mound and recorded seven strikeouts, but it was Redding’s Cordell Greene that took the victory after he threw eight innings and struck out six.

Jake Azevedo led the Elks at the plate, hitting two for four, while Zane Yanzick had an RBI double. Summit High graduate Konner Reddick finished with an RBI single.

The Elks return to the field today with a second game with the Colt .45’s at 1 p.m. Bend will then return to WCL action tonight when they host the Kelowna Falcons to start a three-game series. First pitch is 6:35.
