Donald Don R. Neilson went to be with Jesus on October 10, 2012. He was 83. During his life, Don served as a minister in the Churches of Christ in Texas, Utah, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington, as a prison chaplain, as president of Magic Valley Christian College, and as a sales representative for World Book Encyclopedia.

Known as Papa Don to all who loved him, he is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ada Sue Neilson; his five children and their spouses, David Neilson, Michael (Kathie) Neilson, Kathy Neilson, Paul (Shelley) Neilson and Lisa (Fred) Alexander; grandchildren, Laura Neilson; Ryan (Amanda) and Andrew Wilson; Hillary, Sage, Meredith and Nathan Neilson; Katelyn, Benjamin, Quinn, Jessica, Danielle, Josiah, Christina, Michaela and Amy Alexander; great-grandchildren, Noah Loving and Randy Wilson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and LeOla; his brother, Gene; and granddaughter, Amanda.

Papa Don is affectionately remembered by his family for his tremendous love for children and his Christ-like love for those who were hurting.

A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, October 14, at 4:00 p.m., at Real Life Christian Church, 2800 NE 27th Street, Bend, Oregon.
