After courageously battling ovarian cancer for nearly four years, Tami died peacefully surrounded by loved ones, on Wednesday, October 24, 2012. Tami was 57 years and 16 days old. Psalms 4:8, I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.
Tami was born in Newberg, Oregon on October 8, 1955. After growing up in Newberg and attending school there Tami met and married Scott Phillips on January 11, 1975. Tami and Scott made their first home in Bend, Oregon. They also lived in Halfway, Oregon for several years. Returning to Bend for the past 31 years.
Tami worked as a Sales Associate for Eddie Bauer in Bend for the past 17 years where she had many friends.
Tami is survived by her husband, Scott Phillips; daughter, Erin (Phillips) and husband, Jason Fincher of Newberg; son, Mitchell Phillips and wife, Vanessa of Bend; three grandchildren, Trey and Genevieve Fincher and Jonah Phillips; sister, Suzanne (Lane) and Doug Gaibler of Oak Hill, Virginia; twin sister, Teri Jo (Lane) and Clyde Zahn of Newberg; brother, Kevin Lane and wife, Lori of Newberg; step mom, Hilda Lane of Newberg; special friends, Gail Gumpert and Tootie Allen of Bend; as well as many nieces and nephews. Tami was preceded in death by her parents, Merlin and Eunice Lane.
Tami was known for her incredible work ethic, humor and giving nature. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She was passionate about her grandchildren and made a lasting impact on their lives. She loved spending time outdoors and loved hiking and gardening. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and reading as well. Tami was very active in her church and participated in volunteer work in her community.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Westside Church, in Bend, on Wednesday, October 31, 2012, at 2:30 p.m. A private family burial will take place at Valley View Memorial Park, in Newberg on Thursday, November 1, 2012. Followed by an open reception in honor of Tami’s life from 3-5:00 p.m., held at Newberg Foursquare Church, in Newberg.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Partners In Care Hospice House, in Bend, Oregon.
