- Dr. Diane Reed
Jan. 11, 1934 – March 20, 2013
Diane was born in Joplin, MO on Jan. 11, 1934. She passed away peacefully, after a brief illness at St. Charles Hospital, on March 20, 2013, the first day of spring.
Her husband, William Shotton, children, Wendy and Douglas Funkhouser, grandchildren and great-grandchildren will sorely miss her.
After attending Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles, she began her professional career working in advertising and fashion illustration in Detroit, MI and New York City. In Stamford, CT she created a successful interior design company, Decor to You.
After moving to Oregon, preceding the birth of her first grandchild, she returned to school to get a doctorate in psychology from the University of Oregon. She achieved all three of her degrees in five years.
Diane went on to create ACES, an alcohol and drug diversion program in Eugene, OR. After leaving ACES she entered private practice as a psychologist.
After moving to Bend in the early 90s and building a house, she developed two regional websites — one serving Central Oregon and the other, Sunriver. She also returned to the practice of psychology in Bend, specializing in forensic psychology.
Throughout all of these transitions, she was an avid photographer. This love of the lens led to a career in photography where she specialized in wildlife, people, and places such as Europe, China, Australia, the Arctic and Antarctica. For many years she exhibited her work at Cafe Sintra in downtown Bend.
Private family services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in her name to the KIDS Center in Bend, or the Central Oregon Symphony.
