Richard ”Dick” Fritts of La Pine, Oregon, passed away on April 13, 2013.

A Celebration of Life with Military Honors will be held on Friday, April 19, 2013, at 2:00 p.m., at

Grace Fellowship Church of the Nazarene, located at 15971 Mountain View Lane in La Pine.

Dick was born in Fullerton, California, to William Andrew ”Andy” Fritts and Arlie Jewel (Hallam) Fritts. He went to school in Fullerton and graduated from Buena Park High School in 1959.

He enlisted in the United States Navy and was stationed at Los Alamitos Naval Air Station for three years.

He married Emily Stigers in 1960.

Dick operated heavy equipment such as backhoes and trenchers for 11 years as an Operating Engineer. They moved to San Juan Capistrano in 1978, where he managed the Lazy W Ranch, a Methodist Church Camp, for three years. In 1981, they moved to Oregon and briefly operated the Fort Rock General Store. Upon moving to La Pine, Dick drove a Bend-La Pine School bus and worked as Operations Manager for the La Pine bus garage.

When he retired, Dick volunteered for Interfaith Caregivers and the SMART Reader Program.

He was a member of Grace Fellowship Nazarene Church, and a volunteer at Celebrate Recovery.

Dick was a master mechanic, and enjoyed tinkering with motors, grading the road and helping people.

He is survived by his wife, Emily; daughter, Alice Wavers and son-in-law, Nick Wavers; son, James Fritts and daughter-in-law, Larisa Fritts; four grandchildren, Nicky and Sarah Wavers, and Katya and Max Fritts; brother, James A. Fritts; and numerous other family and friends.
