Logano, the lone Sprint Cup regular in the race, earned his second Nationwide win of the year and No. 20 for his career. He also won at Dover in June. Hornish held on for second, giving car owner Roger Penske the top two spots. Austin Dillon finished third, earning a $100,000 bonus. Elliott Sadler, who led for much of the race before faltering on a late restart, was fourth, followed by Brian Vickers.
Johnson wins Mile-High NHRA — Defending Pro Stock champion Allen Johnson won the Mile-High NHRA Nationals for the fifth time Sunday in Morrison, Colo., holding off Colorado native V. He has two straight victories at the Colorado track and four in the past five years. Spencer Massey won the Top Fuel division, Cruz Pedregon topped the Funny Car field, and Shawn Gann won in Pro Stock Motorcycle.
Italian rider killed at Moscow race — Race organizers say an Italian rider died in a crash at the World Supersport race. Kawasaki Go Eleven rider Andrea Antonelli died Sunday after losing control of his Kawasaki ZX-6R bike in rainy weather and crashing during the opening lap, said Tatiana Makhina, a spokeswoman for the Moscow Raceway organizers. After crashing, the 25-year old Antonelli was struck by a fellow rider. Antonelli was quickly treated by an emergency medical team, but died of injuries shortly after. The organizers cancelled the remaining events.

Serena wins Swedish Open — Serena Williams won her 53rd WTA title by beating Johanna Larsson 6-4, 6-1 in the final of the Swedish Open on Sunday in Bastad, Sweden. The 24-year-old Swede broke to lead 3-1 in the first set before Williams fought back to 3-3. Larsson advanced to 4-3 before caving in to the American’s strong serve and losing the next three games. Williams dominated the second set, breaking Larsson’s serve twice.
Karlovic wins Claro Open — Croatia’s Ivo Karlovic won the Claro Open Colombia on Sunday in Bogota, spoiling hometown favorite Alejandro Falla’s bid for his first ATP Tour title. The 34-year-old Karlovic, the tallest player on tour at 6-foot-10, beat Falla 6-3, 7-6 (4) on the hard court at Centro de Alto Rendimiento for his fifth career title. Karlovic missed three months this season because of viral meningitis, returning this month at Newport.
Fognini wins Hamburg final — Fabio Fognini saved three match points before beating Argentine qualifier Federico Delbonis 4-6, 7-6 (8), 6-2 Sunday to win the German Tennis Championships in Hamburg, Germany, for his second title in two weeks. The 12th-seeded Italian extended his winning run to 10 matches. He won his first career title, also on clay, last week in Stuttgart.
Austrian gets first career title — Yvonne Meusburger of Austria won her first WTA title by defeating Andrea Hlavackova of Czech Republic 7-5, 6-2 at the Gastein Ladies on Sunday in her home country. Florida linebacker arrested, suspended — Florida linebacker Antonio Morrison has been suspended for at least the first two games of the regular season after being arrested for the second time in five weeks. Morrison was arrested early Sunday for barking at a police dog and resisting arrest. Both charges are misdemeanors. Later Sunday, Gators coach Will Muschamp announced that Morrison would be held out of the opener against Toledo (Aug. 31) and the road game the next week against Miami.
Romo returns— Tony Romo was waiting in California when the Dallas Cowboys arrived for training camp. Romo, who didn’t take a real snap in offseason workouts after signing the richest contract in franchise history, finally returned for the first training camp practices Sunday after “uniquely running mountains” on the West Coast. That’s how owner Jerry Jones described his quarterback’s efforts to get back in shape after a procedure to have a cyst removed from his back in April. Romo says he tried to cram a full offseason of conditioning into the last month and a half and “that helped me get ready for today and hopefully for the beginning of the season.”
Baseball
Manager defends Bedard — Houston manager Bo Porter is defending Erik Bedard’s decision to remove himself from Saturday night’s game against Seattle with a no-hitter in the seventh inning because of a high pitch count and says he wouldn’t have let the left-hander stay in much longer. Bedard chose to leave the game with one out in the seventh because he had 109 pitches, saying “I’ve had three shoulder surgeries. I’m not going over 110 (pitches). I’d rather pitch a couple more years than face another batter.” On Sunday Porter said he would have pulled Bedard at 120 pitches. Porter says when it comes to health issues, he always leans toward protecting the player above all else.
A-Rod to keep sitting out — New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez isn’t ready to rejoin the team any time soon. The team said in a statement issued on Sunday night that Rodriguez has a Grade 1 strain of his left quadriceps muscle and won’t be able to return this week in Texas, as had been planned. Instead, Rodriguez will return to Tampa, Fla., “for rest and rehabilitation.” The three-time AL MVP will remain on the disabled list. The team said it may petition Major League Baseball for an additional rehab assignment because of the new injury.

Eddie Johnson, Landon Donovan and Mix Diskerud added second-half goals for the Americans, who will play Honduras in Arlington, Texas, on Wednesday night. Honduras beat Costa Rica 1-0 on Sunday night as part of a doubleheader before a sellout crowd at the home stadium of the Baltimore Ravens.
