Mountain biker who died on trail identified

The 62-year-old man who died biking on the Lava/Edison mountain bike trail Friday has been identified as Wesley C. Pierson, 62, of Redmond.
The man collapsed while riding near Little Lava Lake. According to the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office, Pierson’s friends called 911 to report that he collapsed shortly before 2 p.m. Someone in Pierson’s riding party performed CPR until paramedics arrived.
After attempting to revive Pierson, paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
An investigation into the death is underway.
