Acrovision coaches inducted into hall of fames — A pair of instructors at Bend’s Acrovision Sports Center will be inducted into two separate hall of fames next month. On Oct. 11, Mohini Bhardwaj Barry, a co-owner of Acrovision, will be inducted into the UCLA Athletics Hall of Fame. An 11-time All-American, Bhardwaj Barry led the Bruins to NCAA team national championships in 2000 and 2001. She won individual NCAA titles in the uneven bars in 2000 and the floor exercise in 2001. After college she helped the U.S. national team capture the silver medal at the 2004 Olympics. Later in the month, on Oct. 18, Scott Rohr will be enshrined in the Tae Kwon Do Hall of Fame during a ceremony in Las Vegas. Rohr won bronze at the 1979 Tae Kwon Do World Championships in Stuttgart, Germany.

Triathlon

Jackson second at Ironman 70.3 worlds — Bend’s Heather Jackson placed second overall at the 2013 Ironman 70.3 World Championships on Sept. 8 in Henderson, Nev. Jackson finished behind only Australian Melissa Hauschild, who also won the 2011 Ironman 70.3 women’s world title. Hauschild finished the 70.3-mile course — 1.2-mile swim, 56-mile bike and 13.1-mile run — in 4 hours, 20 minutes and 7 seconds. Jackson was second in 4:25.19.

Tennis

C.O. squad wins division at Team Cup Challenge — Five women from Central Oregon — Wendy Meeuwsen, Odette Adair, Olivia Steele, Mo Everett and Cheri Towery — won the women’s 4.0 level Team Cup Challenge in Sunriver on Sept. 8. A team-tennis event made up of two doubles teams and one singles player, the Central Oregon squad defeated a team from Tualatin Hills 2-1 in the semifinals before besting players representing the Yakima (Wash.) Tennis Club 2-1 in the championship final.
