Vera Emma Mecham Cowing, 93, of Nampa, passed away peacefully Thursday October 24, 2013, in a Nampa care facility. She was born Dec. 17, 1920 to Marion and Mabel Mecham in Utah, and later moved with her family to Oregon.
She married Tom F. Cowing. They made their home in Redmond, Oregon where they opened a business called Redmond Heating and Sheet Metal, operating it for 36 years.
After 50 years of marriage Tom preceded Vera in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Ershel and Leland Mecham; sisters, Ardella Jones and Hellen Mace; and by a great- grandson, Zachary Peiffer. Vera is survived by her daughters, Marie (Jim) Dahlen, Shirli Laughton, and Fran (Dave) Rowe; 10 grandchildren; 45 great- grandchildren; and 4 great- great-grandchildren.
Two years ago Vera moved to Nampa to be close to her family. Her family would like to thank the staff at Family Life Memory Care for the gentle, loving attention they have shown Vera.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, in the LDS Chapel at 2212 E. Amity Ave., Nampa. A viewing will be held at the church from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the service.
