Nick Moyer scored 22 points and Max Michalski added 17 to lead Summit to a 66-54 boys basketball victory Sunday over Milwaukie on the final day of the Les Schwab Oregon Holiday Hoopfest.

The home-court win was the second in three Hoopfest games for the Storm, which improved to 4-4 overall.

Moyer also led Summit in rebounds with eight. Michalski, who hit two of his team’s six 3-point baskets in the game, scored 14 of his points in the second half as the Storm pulled away from a 27-21 halftime lead.

Tyler Mullen added 10 points for Summit and led the defensive effort against Milwaukie standout Tyler Spencer.

“He’s an elite-level player,” said Storm coach Jon Frazier of Spencer, a 6-foot-5-inch senior who led the Mustangs with 16 points. “We really tried to focus on him, and Mullen did an excellent job to limit his shots.”

Isaac Derman scored eight points for the winners and was credited with a team-high nine assists.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Lakeside (Wash.) 53, Bend 50: The Lava Bears had a 40-36 lead after outscoring Lakeside 35-25 in the second and third quarters of the third-place game of the Les Schwab Oregon Holiday Hoopfest at Summit High. But the Lions managed to come back to beat Bend (3-5) by three. “We started out pretty slow,” Lava Bears coach Scott Baker said. “But I’m proud of how the boys came back in the second and third quarter.” Bend was led by Wyatt Beaumarchais, who scored 15 points.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Grants Pass 47, Mountain View 44: A late rally put Mountain View ahead, but the Cougars fell when Emma Platner’s last-second 3-point shot rimmed out of the basket on the final day of the Les Schwab Oregon Holiday Hoopfest at Summit High. Class 6A Grants Pass led 33-25 after three quarters, but 5A Mountain View charged back late in the fourth period on the strength of two 3-pointers by Hailey Goetz and clutch free throws by Ryann Van der Zwiep and Platner, eventually taking a 44-43 lead with about 30 seconds remaining in the game. Grants Pass countered with a basket and, after a Cougar turnover, two free throws for a three-point lead with 3.6 seconds left. Platner, who finished with a game-high 19 points, just missed with a 3-pointer that would have tied the score. Also for Mountain View (1-6), Natalie Warren recorded 13 rebounds, and Montana Breckel registered five points and five rebounds.

Forest Grove 42, Bend 32: The Lava Bears led 30-25 at the end of the third quarter in their matchup with the Vikings. But Forest Grove dominated the fourth quarter, outscoring Bend 17-2 to secure the third-place victory in the Les Schwab Oregon Holiday Hoopfest at Summit High School. “We did fine for three quarters,” Bend coach Todd Ervin said. “Then we fell apart in the fourth quarter.” Jessica McClay led the Lava Bears (5-4) with seven points, and Kendall Kramer and Brydie Burnham scored six points each.

Willamette 77, Summit 26: Powerhouse Willamette of Eugene trounced its third consecutive opponent to capture the Les Schwab Oregon Holiday Hoopfest championship at Summit High. The Wolverines, reigning Class 5A state champions and now 6-1 overall, also scored lopsided wins over Grants Pass and Bend High en route to the tournament final. Willamette jumped out to a 13-0 lead to start the game and held a 42-12 advantage at half. Sarah Heinly led the Storm (6-3) with 16 points.
