- Rob Kerr / The Bulletin file photo Hilst & Coffey play twice in townThe seasons keep changing, but Hilst & Coffey remains one of the busiest local bands on Bend’s music scene. The duo — Kat Hilst on cello and Tim Coffey on guitar — stays that way by making music that appeals to a wide range of people. Hilst’s elegant playing is drawn from her background in classical music, while Coffey’s slick picking and percussive strumming was honed over his two decades as a touring musician. His songs are earthy folk-pop gems with regular forays into Celtic sounds, and together, their harmonies are irresistible. If you ran a local eatery or bar, you’d probably keep booking ‘em, too! Over the next seven days, Hilst & Coffey has two public gigs in Bend: tonight at Jackson’s Corner and Wednesday at The Hideaway Tavern. See the rest of their upcoming schedule at www.hilstandcoffey.com, or details on this week’s shows below. Zanardi, High Beamz visit BendFans of the jam, get thee to Blue Pine Kitchen and Bar Saturday night, where Chris Zanardi and the High Beamz will be holding court all evening long. The San Francisco band plays an eclectic brand of instrumental music that incorporates pop, rock, jazz and funk, with an ever-present focus on the guitar and on the jam. Or, as the High Beamz Facebook calls it, “original music from the portal of life.” Whoa, man ... trippy. Anyway, the band will stop in Bend as part of a Northwest tour ahead of its new album, set for release soon. Find details on this weekend’s show below. Tell us about your gigs!Bands, musicians, lend me your ear: This page you are looking at is a vital part of GO! Magazine, as it endeavors to list, in one place, all live music shows and other nightlife opportunities (DJs, karaoke, open mics, dancing etc.) in Central Oregon in a given week. And our goal is for it to be comprehensive, which means we want to list your gigs here. You should want that, too; a lot of people read this section! The easiest way to ensure that that happens is to email your schedule or a link to your schedule (which you keep updated, right?) to music@bendbulletin.com. Be sure to include a date, lineup, cost and start time for all events.— Ben Salmon
