Chill out with fun Sunriver event
The Sunriver Chill Out continues its second day of winter activities today, starting with the Dummy Downhill at the Sunriver Homeowners Aquatic & Recreation Center’s tubing hill at 10 a.m. Participants construct a dummy that will travel down a ski run and ski jump. Prizes are awarded for “People’s Choice,” distance and best crash. The K-9 Keg Pull will be held at 12:30 p.m. at The Village at Sunriver. The new event features dogs pulling appropriate-size beer kegs down a 150-foot snow-covered runway. The proceeds of the $10 entry fee benefit the Humane Society of Central Oregon. Spectators are encouraged to bring donations of dog food.
Sunriver Resort’s Besson Commons is the venue for the 2:30 p.m. Human Dog Sledding. Teams race in head-to-head sprints, and kid-friendly events include a chocolate marshmallow shooting range and Hershey Kiss hunt. The Sunriver Chill Out festivities conclude with a 45-minute GlowShoe Trek at 7 p.m. at the Sunriver Nature Center and Observatory led by a naturalist and illuminated by glow sticks. Some snowshoeing equipment will be available, but participants are encouraged to bring their own. The trek is followed by live entertainment in the amphitheater.
Cost is $12 for adults, $8 for children ages 2-12 with a discount for SNCO members.
