June 4, 1942 – Feb. 10, 2014

Anita Fay Cox passed on February 10, 2014, at the age of 72, surrounded by her family.

Anita was born in Norman, Oklahoma, in 1942. She met her lifelong husband, Larry William Cox at the age of fourteen; the two were married in 1961. She worked as a LPN in Norman, and moved to Bend in 1979, continuing her work at Cascade Family Practice.

Anita was involved in a motor vehicle accident in 1988, leaving her paraplegic, but through perseverance she outlived all expectations for her quality of life, enjoying another 26 full years.

After a time living in Seattle, she returned to Bend and was employed as the receptionist at Homecare IV from 1999 till 2013. During this time she helped raise three grandsons.

Anita was loved immediately by practically everyone she met, and will be dearly missed by her husband, her two children and their spouses, Steve Cox and his wife, Hazel, and Annette Adkins and her husband Brad; her three grandsons, Kelly, Dusty and Corey; her two sisters and brother; and all of the people she worked with and helped through her full and meaningful life. No service will be held.

Contributions in her memory can be made to the American Spinal Injury Association or another related charity.

She will be missed by many.
