Big turnout for local 5K

Nearly 300 participants turned out for Sunday’s St. Patrick’s Day Dash in Bend, a 5-kilometer fun run that started and finished at Deschutes Brewery’s downtown pub.

Bend’s Robbie Donohue was the overall winner, finishing the loop course in 16 minutes, 2.3 seconds. Fellow Bendites Sean Cronin (17:12.6) and Erik Hammer (17:26.6) placed second and third, respectively.

Natalia Martin, also of Bend, was the first woman to cross the finish line, taking 16th overall in 20:46.3. Amy Holcomb, of Bend, took second in the women’s field in 21:34.6 and Melanie Mangin, also of Bend, placed third in (22:46.4).

The course traversed through downtown Bend and Drake Park, across the Colorado Street footbridge, past Columbia and Harmon parks, and eventually back through Drake after running over the Mirror Pond footbridge.
