Military Notes

Army National Guard Pvt. Kenneth Beyer has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning in Columbus, Ga. He is a 2006 graduate of Redmond High School. He is the stepson of Scott Casto of Aumsville.

Air Force Airman Daniel Ewing has graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio. He is a 2012 graduate of Bend High School. He is the son of Jennifer and Mark Ewing of Bend.

Oregon National Guard Specialist Dane Moorehead has been named the soldier of the year for 2013.

Debra-Diane McDonnell, of Bend, was named to the spring 2013 dean’s list at Ohio Christian University College of Adult and Graduate Studies in Circleville, Ohio.

Tia Seibold, of Bend, was named to the fall 2013 dean’s list at Lafayette College in Easton, Penn.

Teen Feats

Ryan Pierce is a member of Troop 23 and attends Bend High School. For his community service project, Pierce and volunteers contributed 177 ½ hours to paint 20 fire hydrants in the Tanglewood subdivision in southwest Bend. He is the son of Kay Bondurant and Phil Pierce, of Bend.
