SISTERS — Safe to say Sisters coach Steve Hodges got a little nervous on Wednesday.
The Outlaws led 6-0 heading into the top of the seventh inning, but Sweet Home tacked on five runs to trim the deficit to one. Fortunately for Sisters, Joey Morgan shut down the Huskies’ comeback, striking out the final batter with the tying run on third base to secure the Outlaws’ 6-5 Sky-Em League baseball victory.
“This makes them realize that they have to stay intense for all seven innings, not just think, ‘Oh, this one’s over,’” Hodges said. “We definitely learned something from it.”
Morgan went the distance for Sisters (2-0 Sky-Em, 8-2 overall), striking out eight while going 2 for 4 at the plate. Jardon Weems was 3 for 3 with three RBIs for the Outlaws, and Justin Harrer was 1 for 3.
