Summit boys, girls sweep track and field invite

LA PINE — With 10 different winners (four boys, six girls), Summit completed a sweep of the boys and girls meets at the La Pine Invitational on Saturday.
Behind victories by Ethan Axten (800-meter run), Tom Schoderbek (3,000), Riley Shelton (discus) and Cameron Weaver (triple jump), the Storm racked up 199.5 points to best runner-up Redmond by 79.5 points. Shelton also placed second in the shot put, while Weaver took second in the 300 hurdles.
The Panthers were paced by Kyle Tinnell’s wins in the 100 and the long jump. Alani Troutman tied for first in the high jump and placed second in the 110 hurdles.
La Pine, which was third in the 11-team meet with 107 points, got wins from Keegan Kriz (400), Tanner Hanson (shot put) and Justin Petz (pole vault). Drake Anderson tied for first in the high jump and was third in the long jump for Madras, which was fourth with 63.5 points.
For Gilchrist, which was seventh, Brenden Wolf led the way with third-place finishes in the 300 hurdles and the high jump while also placing fourth in the 110 hurdles. Corey Sledge was second in the pole vault for Culver, which finished eighth.
Megan Cornett won the 300 hurdles and was second in the 100 hurdles to help the Summit girls to 226 points. La Pine was second with 101 points. Also adding wins for the Storm were Claire Parton (800), Mary Hadley Schoderbek (3,000), Brianna Marderos (shot put), Molly Rygg (discus) and Jade Danek (high jump).
The Hawks were led by McKenna Boen’s win in the 100 hurdles and her third-place finish in the 300 hurdles. Alissa Likens added a victory in the triple jump and took third in the long jump, and Chloee Sazama won the pole vault.
Kiersten Ochsner paced fourth-place Redmond by winning the 100 and anchoring the winning 400 relay. Hannah Lewis was second in the 400 for Culver, which was sixth, and Gabrielle Alley was third in the javelin.
Elle Renault was second in the javelin and fourth in the long jump for Madras, which was eighth, and Gilchrist rounded out the 10-team field with Sierra Shuey (discus) and Cassie Blum (long jump) each placing eighth in their respective events.

Hoffmann highlights Bears at classic: CENTRAL POINT — Caleb Hoffmann won the 300 hurdles and the 800 for the Bend High boys, who racked up 84.5 points to place third at the 19-team Crater Classic. Grants Pass won with 96.5 points. Camden Stoddard added a win in the pole vault with the second-best height in the state in all classifications. Mountain View, which was fifth with 60.5 points, was led by Dantly Wilcox’s second- and fourth-place finishes in the 110- and 300-meter hurdles, respectively. Gabe Wyllie added a second-place finish in the 800 for the Cougars, whose winning 1,600 relay team posted the second-fastest time in the state in all classifications. For the girls, Tia Hatton was runner-up in the 800 to pace the Cougars, who tied for fourth with 54 points. Grants Pass won the 19-team meet with 152.5 points. Sage Hassell was third in the 1,500 for Mountain View, and Jill Roshak took third in the high jump. Samantha McGee won the pole vault for Bend, which was sixth with 47 points. Sophia Cunningham was fourth in the 400, and Sarah Perkins took fourth in the 1,500.
Record-breaking run for Maton: EUGENE — In winning the 1,500 in 3:55.85, Summit junior Matthew Maton broke the Oregon Relays meet record that was set last year. His efforts helped the Storm boys total 20 points to take 16th at the 40-team event at Hayward Field. Eastlake (Wash.) won with 66 points. Calvin Aylward was ninth in the javelin for Summit, and Chris Merlos placed 14th in the 800. Danielle Taylor tied for third in the high jump for the Storm girls, who tied for second with 50 points. Miranda Brown was fourth in the triple jump, seventh in the 300 hurdles and 10th in the 100 hurdles. Summit was first in the 1,600 sprint medley relay and third in the 400 and 1,600 relays. Federal Way (Wash.) won the 45-team meet with 57.5 points.
Outlaws dominate relays: ELMIRA — The Sisters girls won the 400-, 1,600- and 3,200-meter relays at the Elmira Relays while taking second in the sprint medley relay and third in the distance medley relay. Zoe Falk led Sisters with a win in the long jump, eight inches ahead of teammate Michaela Miller. Miller also tied for fourth in the high jump behind Sisters’ Madison Boettner, who tied for second. Jake McAllister led the Outlaw boys with a win in the high jump and a second-place finish in the long jump. Jacob Glatz was third in the high jump and fourth in the triple jump.
Crook County places well at Marshfield: COOS BAY — Six Cowboys finished in the top three of their events at the Rotary Invitational at Marshfield High, highlighted by Luis Rivera’s win in the 800 and Grayson Munn’s victory in the mile. Emmett Bailor finished second in the 800 for Crook County, Jesse Santiago was second in the 400, Zane Abrams was third in the 300 and Zach Smith finished third in the shot put. The boys were also second in the 1,600 relay. For the Crook County girls, Hannah Troutman won the shot put and the javelin, while Kathryn Kaonis finished third in the shot put.
GIRLS TENNIS
Cowgirls take invite: MADRAS — With Elsa Harris winning the No. 1 singles division and her sister Greta doing the same at No. 2 singles, Crook County racked up 141 points to win the eight-team Madras Invite. Sisters was third behind Henley with 111 points, paced by the doubles team of Brenna Weems and Dani Rudinsky, who won the No. 2 doubles division. Behind fourth-place Hood River Valley was Madras with 103 points. Megan Foristall was third in No. 2 singles, while Itzel Romero took fifth at No. 1 singles. Redmond, which rounded out the standings with 59 points, was paced by Selena Lafontaine’s sixth-place showing at No. 1 singles.
BOYS LACROSSE
Summit 14, Hood River Valley 9: HOOD RIVER — With Cole Gaines and Troy LaLonde each posting five goals and three assists, the Storm powered past the Eagles in a nonconference match. Charlie Stuermer had a goal and three assists for Summit (9-4), Quin Rasmussen scored once to go along with three assists, and Nick Rasmussen scored a goal. Ian Burbidge stopped eight shots for the Storm, who picked up their sixth straight win.
