Bend Chief Financial Officer Sonia Andrews has just a few days left on the job before she leaves for a position as a finance manager in Peoria, Ariz. Andrews’ last day working for the city is Friday.

“It’s a career move for me,” Andrews said Monday. Peoria has roughly twice the population of Bend, at approximately 160,000 people, according to the latest estimate from the U.S. Census Bureau. The Peoria Finance and Budget Department handles more functions than the city of Bend, because the city of Peoria collects sales tax and handles operations such as garbage collection and parks. “It’s really exciting,” Andrews said. “I will definitely miss Bend, and there’s so many good people here.”
