September 5, 1940 – June 8, 2014Linda Sue Gattey, 73, of Bend, Oregon passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2014 of a sudden illness. She was born in St. Joseph, MI on September 5, 1940, to the late Jim and Ruby Graves. Linda rode a horse to a one room school house. She graduated from Chaffey High School. She marred Phillip A. Gattey on June 21, 1963, in Pomona, CA. They relocated to Santa Cruz County in 1965.Linda worked for GE, was a telephone operator, helped to develop Koinonia Conference Grounds and was a homemaker and mother. She enjoyed cardmaking, RVing, reading, and much to her family and friends pleasure, baking. While living in Santa Cruz, she was an active member of Twin Lakes Church. After relocating to Oregon, she attended Compass Church. Service to others brought meaning to her life and many lives were changed through her gifts of hospitality and encouragement.Linda is survived by her husband Phillip A. Gattey, three children Phillip M. and Sharon Gattey, Crystal and Jimmy Clarke, Marc and Maria Gattey, and seven grandchildren.Linda was preceded in death by her three siblings, June VerMeer, Harry Graves and Jim Graves, all of California.Services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 22, at Compass Church, 21610 NE Butler Market Rd., Bend, OR.In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Compass Church, PO Box 8518, Bend, OR 97708.
