Bend’s Corbin wins in Austria

KLAGENFURT, Austria — Bend triathlete Linsey Corbin placed first Sunday in the women’s division of the Ironman Austria, winning the race for the second time and setting a course record.
Corbin, 33, finished the race — a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bike leg and a 26.2-mile run — in 8 hours, 42 minutes, 42 seconds, beating the course record set by fellow American Mary Beth Ellis in 2011 by 52 seconds.

“Amazing day for me! Speechless! Thank you Klagenfurt for all the cheers and support out there! Need to let this one sink in a bit,” Corbin tweeted Sunday.
Simone Braendli of Switzerland was the runner-up, 6:34 behind. Corbin also won the 2012 Ironman Austria in 9:09:58.
