Three locals in Hershey’s finals

Three young Central Oregon athletes have qualified to compete at the 2014 Hershey’s Track and Field Games North American Finals.
The local qualifiers are Cambree Scott and Lexie Miller, both of Bend, and Jeremiah Schwartz, of Redmond. Scott qualified in the standing long jump in the girls 13-14 division. Miller qualified in the 100-meter dash in the girls 9-10 division. And Schwartz qualified in the standing long jump in the boys 9-10 division.
The 37th annual North American Finals (NAF) meet is set for Aug. 2 in Hershey, Pennsylvania.
Scott, Miller and Schwartz are among eight NAF qualifiers from Oregon. Scott’s qualifying mark in the long jump was 8 feet, 1/2 inch. Miller’s qualifying time in the 100 meters was 15.08 seconds. Schwartz qualified in the long jump with a distance of 6 feet, 10 inches.
