June 2, 1932 – August 24, 2014Carol Louise Mitchell, age 82, passed August 24, 2014 at her home in Redmond.Carol was born June 2, 1932 to Carl and Edith Mitchell in Portland, OR. She grew up in Tumalo, attending Tumalo Grade School and Redmond High School.She is survived by her sister, Lois (Dick) Allen of Tumalo, OR and brother, Alton (Donna) Mitchell of Lancaster, SC; many nieces and nephews; and a large extended family at the Opportunity Foundation of Central Oregon and the Redmond Christian Church. Carol was preceded in death by parents, Carl and Edith Mitchell; brother, Dale Mitchell and sister, Bonnie Huntress.Carols contagious happiness and determination will be greatly missed by many. She participated for over 20 years in Special Olympics, earning many medals and awards. She traveled to many places with the wonderful people of the Opportunity Foundation, including Disney World, Disneyland, Branson, Dollywood, Grand Ole Opry and Hawaii.Graveside services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 29 at the Tumalo Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held at a later date at the Opportunity Foundation of Central Oregon in Redmond.In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Opportunity Foundation of Central Oregon, P.O.
