Jerry Ferrara, passed away suddenly on Sept. 26, 2014. Jerry was born Jan. 3, 1933, in Montclair, New Jersey, to Michael and Carmela Ferrara.
He was a veteran of the Korean War and was with the Honor Guard. While serving in Germany, he met the love of his life Anna Maria. They subsequently married and settled in New Jersey. In 1966, they relocated to Southern California and he began a long and distinguished career with the U.S. Postal Service. He received numerous special achievement awards of which he was very proud. He retired in 1992, and he and Anna moved to Bend, Oregon, to be closer family.
Jerry liked music and sports of all kinds, especially baseball, golf, tennis and swimming. He and Anna enjoyed hiking and spending time with family and friends. They really enjoyed trips to Las Vegas several times a year.
Jerry is survived by daughter, Jane (Gary) Grimm; grand-daughter, Michelle (Eric) Svendsen; great-grandson, Mark; great-granddaughters, Alisha and Taylor; two great-great-grandchildren, Mark and Ryden; brother, Nick; sister, Catherine; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Anna; sisters, Florence and Ann; brother, Samuel; and grandson, Anthony.
Jerrys memory will live on with family and friends and the caring staff at Awbrey Place and Partners In Care.
A private service with military honors will be held at a later date.
