Ellery Nard Hawkins of Redmond, Oregon, passed away October 3, 2014, at OHSU in Portland, OR. He was 74. A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 10, 2014, at 12:00 p.m., at First

Missionary Baptist Church, located at 21129 Reed Market Road, in Bend, OR. A graveside service will immediately follow at Deschutes Memorial Gardens. A public viewing will take place Thursday, October 9, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m., at Autumn Funerals of Redmond, located at 485 NW Larch Avenue, in Redmond, OR.

Nard was born June 4, 1940, in Corvallis, OR, to Earl and Doris (Bailey) Hawkins. On October 16, 1964, he married Janice Marie Mathers in Bend, Oregon.

Nard spent the majority of his career working as a millworker, retiring from Brightwood Corporation in January 2003.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and wood working.

Nard leaves behind his wife of nearly 50 years, Janice Hawkins of Redmond, OR; and his two sons, Ron (wife, Michele) and Mike Hawkins, both of Redmond; OR. Other survivors include brothers, Ron and Everett Hawkins; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by both parents and a sister.
