Hoedown for Hunger — The ninth annual Hoedown for Hunger, a music-focused fundraiser for Bend’s Community Center, now has a date: Nov. 8.

The Hoedown will offer a full day of folk, bluegrass and Americana music by more than 20 local bands, as well as all-you-can-eat chili and beer and wine, and a silent auction. It will run from 1-9 p.m. at BCC (1036 NE Fifth St., Bend). Cost is $20; children 12 and younger get in free.

Proceeds will go to the center’s Feed the Hungry program, which prepares more than 2,000 meals per week for area homeless. Donations will also be taken for BCC’s Keep Them Warm program. More info and tickets can be had by calling 541-312-2069.

Music in the Canyon — One of Redmond’s two biweekly summer concert series, Music in the Canyon, is now a tax-exempt organization that can receive tax-deductible donations, according to Jim Bull, who organizes the series.

“We worked long and hard to make this happen, and it opens many doors to grow and achieve great things,” Bull wrote on Facebook. “It’s a new day here at the Music in the Canyon Foundation.”

Music in the Canyon generally runs through July and August in American Legion Community Park, featuring bands from Central Oregon and beyond. More info is at www.musicinthecanyon.com.

Charles Button album — Local blues-rock bandleader Charles Button has a new double album out. It’s called “White Buffalo — Bigger Than Real,” and half of its proceeds will be donated to the White Bison Association. It came out Thursday and Button celebrated with an event at Ranch Records.

Button is a lifelong working musician and 2008 Native American Music Award winner who lives on an area ranch with his wife, Cynthia Hart-Button, where they oversee a herd of 19 rare white buffalo, he said.

“White Buffalo” is a two-disc set. One features Native American music, the other pop, rock and blues songs. Button wrote or co-wrote all of the tracks, and guest performers include Walfredo Reyes Jr. (who has played with Santana and Chicago), Phil Kenzie (Paul McCartney, Rod Stewart) and Michael Thompson (Cher, Ray Charles), plus several locals.
