Jim and Donna (Roberts) Staples, of Redmond, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with a family celebration at 2 p.m. on Nov. 23 at Highland Baptist Church in Redmond.

The couple were married Nov. 24, 1954, at the Staples’ family home in Bend. They met while working at Bend Employment Office and dated secretly due to the office policy. They have three children, Eric (and Polly) and Alex, both of Redmond, and Roger (and Linda), of Salem; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Mr. Staples worked at Jefferson County Mental Health and retired in 1990. He was the president of ARC for 10 years in Deschutes, Jefferson, Crook and Josephine counties. Mrs. Staples worked at Round Butte Seed Growers and retired in 1996. She was appointed by Gov. Vic Atiyeh as a member of the Developmental Disabilities Planning and Advisory Council for a four-year term.

They have lived in Central Oregon for 59 years.
