Police find 90 pounds of cocaine in Portland … — Police said officers who stopped a minivan for a traffic infraction in northeast Portland found 42 kilograms — more than 92 pounds — of cocaine after getting the driver’s consent to search the vehicle. Police said the vehicle was stopped Friday on northbound Interstate 205. With the help of a drug detection dog, officers found the drugs in four duffel bags in a hidden compartment in the floor. Investigators believe the cocaine was destined for Canada. Arrested for investigation of possession and delivery of cocaine was the driver, 51-year-old Kevin Maurice Landers.
… and 37 pounds in Medford — State police in southern Oregon who stopped a car for seatbelt violations wound up finding 17 kilos — more than 37 pounds — of cocaine and arresting three people from Washington state. Lt. Josh Brooks said troopers asked for assistance from a drug detection K-9 after the traffic stop Friday on Interstate 5. K-9 Rainey helped them find the cocaine in a false compartment. Also found was nearly $6,000 in cash. Arrested for unlawful possession, delivery and manufacturing of cocaine were 26-year-old Christopher Winters, 36-year-old Taylor Thruelsen and 37-year-old Christopher Carrigan. Winters is from Mill Creek, Washington. The other two are from Issaquah, Washington.
Man arrested in connection with wife’s shooting — An Oregon City man has been arrested for investigation of murder in last month’s fatal shooting of his wife. Police said the man survived a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Oregon City police Sgt. Matthew Paschall said police found the man and woman with gunshot wounds on Nov. 25, lying in the driveway of their home. The couple’s two young children were inside the home and were not hurt. Paschall said 32-year-old Rebekah Johnson died the next day. Police arrested 38-year-old Raymond Johnson after he was released Friday from a Portland hospital. He was taken to the Clackamas County Jail.
