Outlaws top White Buffs for 2nd straight victory

SISTERS — Sisters captured its second straight boys basketball win of the season, but it took a strong second half in order to remain perfect.
After scoring just 12 points in the first half to fall into a six-point deficit at the intermission, the Outlaws tallied 33 second-half points, including 20 in the fourth quarter, to put away Madras 45-37 in a nonleague matchup.
Keegan Greaney paced the Outlaws (2-0 overall) with 11 points, Steen Johnson contributed with eight, and Hayes Moore finished with seven points.
Madras (0-1) was led by Jered Pichette’s 12 points — nine of which came off 3-pointers. Brent Sullivan was the only other double-figure scorer for Madras, as the 6-foot-8-inch senior finish with 10 points.

Bend 61, Grants Pass 47: GRANTS PASS — The Lava Bears had three players hit double figures en route to their first victory of the season. J.J. Spitler led Bend with 19 points, followed by Mario Mora with 14 and Christian Johnson with 11. Chris Wallace paced the Bears (1-1) with nine rebounds.
Mountain View 61, Lincoln 59: PORTLAND — Behind Jordan Vance’s 16 points, the Cougars secured their second straight nonconference win and improved to 2-1 on the season. Davis Holly had 15 points for Mountain View, while Ments Haugen and Austin Albin chipped in with 10 points apiece.
Dufur 65, Culver 25: CULVER — Despite 13 points by Cory Sledge, including three 3-pointers, the Bulldogs could not keep the scoring pace set by visiting Dufur in suffering their third straight loss to open the season.
Gilchrist 44, La Pine JV 36: LA PINE — Jacob Blood scored a game-high 17 points, and the Grizzlies improved to 1-2 on the season with a nonleague victory. Gabe Bernabe chipped in with 13 points for Gilchrist, which outscored La Pine 18-8 in the second quarter to take control.

Madras 46, Sisters 26: MADRAS — Mariah Stacona scored a game-high 22 points to give the White Buffaloes a season-opening victory. Sisters, which hit on only two of 24 free-throw attempts, was led in scoring by Haylie Hudson with nine points.
Culver 42, Dufur 31: CULVER — Raeanne Slaght posted a game-high 17 points to help the host Bulldogs down the Rangers for their first win of the season. Hannah Lewis scored 10 points for Culver (1-2) in the nonconference contest.
Trinity Lutheran 54, Mitchell/Spray 27: MITCHELL — Three players scored 10 points and lead the Saints to a nonleague win and remain undefeated. Erin Cowan, Emily Eidler and Katie Murphy each logged 10 points for Trinity (4-0), which outscored Mitchell 16-3 in the third quarter. Murphy also had 11 rebounds, and Eidler hauled in 10 boards.
La Pine JV 46, Gilchrist 38: GILCHRIST — Sierra Shuey put up 22 points, 10 rebounds and three assists, but the Grizzlies could not keep up with the Hawks’ Sue Ann Marsh, who drilled five 3-pointers to lift La Pine to a nonleague win. Charlene Berling had nine points for Gilchrist (1-2), and Cassandra Blum posted six boards to go along with two points.
Summit frosh 48, North Lake 37: SILVER LAKE — Kendra Murphy scored 21 points and grabbed 18 rebounds, but she fouled out early in the fourth quarter and North Lake faded at the finish against the visiting Summit freshmen. Jade Stockton scored eight points and Megan Nelson added seven for the Cowgirls (0-3).

Summit 70, Sisters 18: The host Storm set a school record for points scored in a dual meet in their nonconference win over Sisters. Thomas Brown (126 pounds), Grant Leiphart (145), Patrick Leiphart (152), Jacob Thompson (170), Dustin Follett (182), Josh Wittwer (195) and Noah Yunker (220) all won by fall for Summit, which also got a major decision from Quintin McCoy (120). Dyut Fetrow (138) and Clayton Darst (160) both won by fall for the Outlaws.
