Nov. 13, 1991- Dec. 18, 2014Matthew Miley Groshong, 23, of Albany Oregon, left his family home and was escorted to heaven to live in eternity by his creator Jesus Christ. Born to Donald Groshong of Prineville and Sandy (Groshong) Bearden of Albany, Matthew brought a light into the world that radiated everywhere he went. His passion for life, adventure, and the desire to make people smile drew people to him. He put others before himself and had compassion for those in need. He loved adventure and new things. Land, sky, water … anything with excitement brought him joy. Matthew also loved music and played guitar. Above all, Matthew loved family. He loved big family gatherings and although he had many siblings, he held a special relationship with each one. Matthew went to Albany schools for most of his primary years and spent his last two years in Prineville and graduated from Crook County in 2010. He also attended OSU and loved his Beavers! He went on to pursue his career as an electrician. He was a member of the IBEW 280 in Tangent, Oregon. Matthew is survived by his parents, Donald Groshong Jr., Prineville, Sandy Bearden (husband Matt), Albany; grandparents, Donald and Virginia Groshong Sr., Prineville; siblings, Kyle Groshong, Cassie Groshong (husband Brandon), Leneta Groshong, Tori Butler, Brandi Ratterman (husband Chase), Brian Mickel, Jake Bearden, Cheryl Bearden, Matt Bearden Jr., and Nate Rodriguez. Matthew joined his grandfather who he was named after, Miley Butler and grandmother “Dancie” Lorraine Butler in heaven. The large number of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends that remain carry on the memory of a great young man that made the world a special place. Donations may be made at any OSU Credit Union in Matthews name in c/o Sandy Bearden to help cover outstanding expenses. Viewing 12:00-2:00 Sunday, December 28, at Assum-Dufour Funeral Home, 805 SW Ellsworth St., Albany, OR, followed by service at 3:00 at Agape Family Fellowship, 34116 Hwy. 99 E.
