LOS ANGELES — It turns out Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein haven’t run out of blue-state oddballs to lampoon. “Portlandia,” their sketch comedy series that airs on IFC, has been renewed for two more seasons.
Armisen, Brownstein and co-creator and director Jonathan Krisel will reunite for Seasons 6 and 7 of the series, which will consist of 10 episodes apiece. The series is airing its fifth season on IFC.

The continued existence of the series is a treat for fans, especially considering Armisen’s and Brownstein’s other commitments, including Armisen’s role as bandleader on “Late Night With Seth Meyers” and Brownstein going on tour with her band Sleater-Kinney.
The series was previously renewed in 2013 for two more seasons, bringing it to the current season.
Although it started off as a small cultish show, it has steadily gained fans and cultural cachet.
And the list of guest stars has grown to include some unusual choices, including Eddie Vedder, k.d. lang, Paul Simon, Oscar the Grouch and Matt Groening.
In its five seasons, “Portlandia” has picked up Peabody and WGA awards and won two Emmys for its costumes.
