Daniel Ross Thornton, age 64, a lifelong Oregonian and resident of Redmond, OR, passed away in his home surrounded by family and friends on Nov. 27, 2014. He was born on March 17, 1950, to Ross C.B. Thornton, M.D. and Lenor Wilson, R.N. in La Grande, OR.
As a young man, Daniel served in the Coast Guard. He pursued a number of careers, but was most known for his nursing and caregiving. A majority of his life was spent in the service of others. He was a compassionate man with a big heart that he brought to all his endeavors.

Wagon roads, blaze trees, forgotten lakebeds, morels, and huckleberries ran through his blood. Daniel had many interests from motorcycles to current events, but above all else, Daniel was a family man that was deeply fulfilled by spending time with those he loved.
Daniel is survived by his brother, Jonathan; wife, Bertha; daughters, Celina and Laura; grandchild, Ava.
A Celebration of Life and brunch will be held Sat., March 14, 2015, at 10:00 a.m., at Rivers Run; 1730 Blue Heron, Redmond, OR. “That which is will always be.”
