MBSEF racer places 2nd at regional

MOUNT BACHELOR — Minam Cravens finished second in the men’s giant slalom to highlight performances by Mt. Bachelor Sports Education Foundation skiers Saturday at the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association U16 Western Region alpine championships.
On the second day of the regional event at Mt. Bachelor ski area, Cravens posted a time of 2 minutes, 11.71 seconds on the Thunderbird run and finished just 0.6 seconds behind winner Winston Pretti (2:11.11) of the Far West Division. In third place, also of the Far West, was Dashiell Prince-Judd (2:12.26).
Other MBSEF skiers in the men’s race Saturday included Jake Klonsky, who was 25th with a time of 2:18:46 that earned him the move-up award.
Also contested Saturday on Thunderbird was the women’s slalom, which was won by Keely Cashman of the Far West in 1:44.46. Madison Hoffman (1:44.99) and Katie Hensien (1:46:32), both of the Intermountain Division, placed second and third, respectively.
MBSEF’s Erin Smith followed her runner-up finish in Friday’s super-G with a sixth-place finish Saturday; her time was 1:50.11. Other MBSEF finishers in the slalom were Lili Bouchard (1:55.19) in 17th place and Sophia Sahm (2:01:24) in 35th place.
