Kiarra Saito-Beckman , a sophomore at Summit High School, recently won the Music Teachers National Association National Senior String Competition in Las Vegas. She will attend the Cleveland Institute of Music in the fall on a full-tuition scholarship.

youth notes

Jude Dow-Hygelund, 10, will play the first movement of Haydn’s Piano Concerto in D Major with the Central Oregon Symphony May 16-18 at Bend High School. He is one of three winners of the Young Artist Competition sponsored by the Central Oregon Symphony. He will receive a cash prize in addition to playing with the orchestra.
