military notes

Air Force Airman Walter Britt has graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio. He is a 2013 graduate of the Oregon Youth Challenge High School in Bend.

Army Pvt. Cory Mandas has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Benning, Georgia. He is the grandson of Ron Burns of Bend.

The William K. Worrell Scholarship winner is Trevor Rasmussen, Crook County High School. All awards will be presented during the 2015 Salute to Heroes Scholarship Dinner tonight.

James Siemens , senior at Bend High School, was named 2015 Outstanding Youth Volunteer for Veterans by the Bend Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution. He also won at the state, Northwest regional and national levels and will receive his award during the National Defense Night in Washington D.C. in June.
