Q: I was wondering if Daniela Ruah has a “funny” right eye. Maybe she has one blue eye and one brown?
— Barbara Swisloski, Utica, New York
A: The co-star of CBS’ “NCIS: Los Angeles” has talked about it. She explains that her right eye has a birthmark known as Nevus of Ota, which covers the white part of the eye but not the iris. As a result, that eye appears darkened when others look at it, but she maintains her vision isn’t affected by it. She adds that sometimes when she’s working, the lighting on her is adjusted so that the eye looks less dark.
Q: Why, on 90 percent of the episodes of “Shark Tank,” is Barbara Corcoran wearing the same purple dress and purple accessories?
— Lorrie Coffey, Columbus, Indiana
A: The investor has described her style as “easy and simple,” and that extends to her not having an extensive wardrobe, but having an eye for colors that she thinks work for her. That goes for her jewelry, shoes and purses, too — so if you’re noticing that she tends to repeat the same outfits on the ABC show, it likely doesn’t bother her since she has freely stated, “I am very lazy.”
Q: Where can I find the last season of “The Big C”?
— Ellen Cullen, Victoria, British Columbia
A: A number of online streaming services have carried the former Showtime series, which starred Laura Linney, Oliver Platt and John Benjamin Hickey, so you might want to check any of your choice to see if it’s still available there. In terms of physical media, all four seasons of the show — including the last one, which was titled “The Big C: Hereafter” — are available on DVD and can be found easily on the Internet for purchase.
Q: In the season premiere of “Transformer: The Series,” we heard but did not see a car crash when Frank Martin was driving. We also saw Kat get shot. Was that the end of the series, or did they both recover and the series will resume later this year?
— Kay Berresford, Negley, Ohio
A: For starters, though the “Transformers” franchise likely appreciates the shout-out, it’s clearly “Transporter: The Series” that we’re talking about here. At the point this is being written, a Season 3 that would resolve that cliffhanger is not definite. That may be due to the relatively complex financing structure of the show, with entities from several different countries involved.
Initially, Cinemax had a strong involvement in the series and was scheduled to run it, but that agreement ended — with TNT ultimately running the show in the U.S. as a “pick-up,” without really having a production say in it. Thus, the network largely is dependent on what “Transporter’s” producing broadcasters in such countries as France and Germany decide to do about making another season.
Q: I enjoyed “Drop Dead Diva.” Has it been canceled, or will it come back?
— Sandra Proc, Greenacres, Florida
A: It was canceled, then it came back, and then it was canceled again. At first, Lifetime announced after Season 4 that the show wouldn’t be back, which would have left its audience with a story-line cliffhanger never to be resolved. Then, in a move that almost never happens, the cable network struck a deal with producing studio Sony Pictures Television to bring the series back … which it did for two more seasons.
The surprise renewal likely had to do with a new, lower financial agreement, which the inability to reach apparently had led to the initial cancellation. “Drop Dead Diva” ended for good last summer, but all six of its seasons are now available on DVD.
