Annual Realtor Open House Weekend

As summer heats up and the housing market sets new records, Central Oregonians are seeing a shortage of housing inventory. The pressure on buyers to make decisions without seeing many properties can be alleviated through participating in the Central Oregon Association of REALTORS® (COAR) Open House Weekend. Hundreds of homes will be on open house the weekend of June 6-7, allowing buyers to get the best perspective on the Central Oregon market. According to the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) 2014 Profile of Home Buyers and Sellers, 44% of all buyers used an open house as a resource in their home buying process. Open Houses are not just beneficial to buyers, they also allow seller’s more showings in a shorter time frame. Wendy Adkisson, COAR Past President says, “an open house hosted by a Realtor provides a great way for sellers to introduce their property to prospective buyers while having their agent present, and allows buyers to preview homes in a relaxed “no expectations” environment.”

The proliferation of home search technology has crowded the market with inaccurate information for both buyers and sellers, but the members of the Central Oregon Association of REALTORS® can provide local market information and local experts to provide guidance through this process. COAR believes that all real estate is local and that consumers should look to a REALTOR® for the most accurate information. REALTORS® provide critical assistance during a real estate transaction from searching for a home that meets your criteria to negotiating the best price. The NAR 2014 Profile of Home Buyers and Sellers found that 98% of buyers found using a REALTOR® useful in the home buying process.
