David MacLean Ghormley

David MacLean Ghormley, 91, of Bend, OR, died May 25, 2015. He was the son of Alfred and Elizabeth Ghormley and loving husband of Barbara (Birdie) Ghormley.

He is

survived by his wife and three children, Bill Ghormley, of Greenwood, IN, Cathy Taylor, of Pasadena, CA, and Jim Ghormley, of St. Charles, MO; his sister, Mary Alice Tudor of CA. He is also survived by six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Ghormley spent his youth on the Carnation Farm in WA, and then moved to Southern California. He earned a degree from Stanford University and an MBA from Harvard. He served in the US Navy in WWII and was an elder in the Presbyterian Church. He was a consultant in the food industry and served on various boards until his retirement and move to Bend, OR, in 1986. He then served the community in several offices in both Sunriver and Bend, OR.

David loved golf, tennis, bridge and traveling. He was known for his witty observations of life, as many enjoyed in his “Senior Moments” column, published in the Sunriver Scene. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Services will be held at a private service in Sunriver, OR in July.
