Cascade Classic seeks volunteers

The Cascade Cycling Classic presented by Regence BlueCross BlueShield returns to Central Oregon for its 36th year July 22-26, and the race is seeking volunteers to help with the event.

The CCC — the longest-running professional stage race in the nation — requires more than 350 volunteers, according to the Mt. Bachelor Sports Education Foundation, which organizes the race. Most of the top domestic cycling teams are scheduled to be racing over the five days of competition, and volunteers are needed to help ensure rider safety.

Anyone interested in volunteering can register online at www.cascade-classic.org or call MBSEF for more information at 541-388-0002. All volunteers will receive an event T-shirt and an invitation to a pre-event volunteer barbecue on July 16.

The CCC is a fundraiser for MBSEF, a youth sports training organization in skiing, snowboarding and cycling.
